Originally the business was known as M-T-Y which stood for Manufacturer To You. In 1963, Los Tres SA was born in Guatemala as a vehicle importer and with an extremely ambitious goal: to become exclusive distributors of the Volvo brand. At that time, the company sold the well-known Go Karts of the Simplex and Moss brands, with Makulock engines and at the same time it had started operations in the distribution of fuel, with a station located at kilometer 7.5 of the route to the Atlantic.
At that time, its founders Cromwell Cuestas Morales, Víctor Granai Pellecer and Alfredo Jiménez, decided to convince Volvo representatives that Los Tres, SA was the ideal company to represent the brand in the region. At first, they did not receive much hope as the Europeans already had advanced negotiations in Mexico.
However, the restrictions imposed in that country truncated the process, so Volvo representatives decided to explore the Central American market. Cuestas, Granai and Jiménez obtained financial support from Rafael Cuestas Aguilar, to establish themselves as well as an extremely attractive offer: an enterprising, enthusiastic and financially stable group.
Careful of their brand, Volvo representatives met with other people not only in Guatemala, but in the rest of Central America. Upon arriving in Panama, they favored the three young university students and confirmed the concession.
That same year the first importation was made, financed with a loan from the lawyer Cuestas. It consisted of six vehicles of the models 544, 122 and the sports car 1,800. They were put up for sale on the premises of the gas station with a price of Q3,500.00.
